NBC easily sweeps the week in the ratings, on the strength of it's Wednesday and Thursday holiday programming.

The hyped up NBC production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC - LIVE! lived up to the hype by producing 18.6 million viewers and a strong 4.6 rating in Adults 18-49. It was the #3 program of the, bested by only NFL games on Sunday. Normally, NBC pulls in around 2.5 to 3 million viewers and a 1.0 demo rating, with it's regular Thursday line up, so this helped push NBC even higher in the ratings.

Wednesdays were also good for NBC with it's combo of holiday specials, CHRISTMAS IN ROCKEFELLER CENTER and a two hour clips show of the best SNL Christmas Sketches. The programs pulled in 9.7 and 7.4 million viewers, respectively and averaged about 3-4 million more viewers and a full ratings point higher than a typical Wednesday night. In all, NBC placed eight programs in the top 30, representing 12 1/2 hours of it's programming.

Coming in a strong second place was FOX. Football propelled it up from 4th place as Saturday's coverage of the Big Ten Football Championship hauled in13.9 million viewers and a solid 4.5 demo rating. It was easily the best showing of a Saturday football game, from FOX, as most games struggle to get three million viewers and break the 1.0 ratings level in the demographic ratings.
